@mettlemoxie A full squat will engage the hamstrings and glutes more than a "power squat". Specific lifting should never encompass the majority of the lifting; developing overall athleticism and strength through full ROM and then working on specific strength with adding specific exercises is generally better.

@1134BlackLabel as a football player the power squat is better suited and I think should be the bulk of training. Full squatting can also be employed but there are very few times in football when your are narrow stanced and in full flexion.

so what if it's a 'half squat' ? maybe the guy is a powerlifter? and hitting parallel is all he needs for it to count as a lift

Then all the more reason he should be full squatting. Half squats deliver... half the benifits of full squats.
