It's funny to see all these comments about this song sounding "old." Yes, it does because both Cee-lo and Danger Mouse skillfully tapped into the 20th century foundation of black music. Specifically, R&B and Soul of the 1960s. Listen to people like Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Sly and the Family Stone, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Ojays, even the "blue-eyed soul" of Hall and Oates to some extent, but definitely a broad smattering of the Philadelphia sound... and on and on.

Wow, listening again, I find hints of Al Green, Jackie Wilson (strongly), Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, The Isley Brothers, The Chilites... it just doesn't end!

This song follows in a long history, but is still so unique to itself and the R&B genre. Genius music, really.

DAMN......this song just came out 2 or 3 years ago?????? I heard this on the radio the other day. I could have swore that I have been hearing this song forever. I thought it was from the 60s or 70s. Guess I was wrong.

Great song and great voice by the way.

The style of the song alone doesn't really say 60's or 70's lol, not even 80s.

I thought the same thing. I was surprised when I found out that this album came out in lik 2006.
