Lia Grimanis shark diving in 2005

Every year I try and do something that scares me, to remind myself never to be stopped by fear. This year was no exception...and I almost drowned!

Surrounded by sharks, one swam up and got caught between my head and my air hose, eventually ripping it out of my mouth and blinding me as her tail hit my mask and filled it with water.

If you look carefully, you'll see footage from the dive after that, where I'm punching and pushing the sharks; not a smart thing to do, but I didn't want them near my head again!
