Jeep Patriot in the Yorkshire Dales

Trying to keep up with Land Rovers on a very scenic Green Lane in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The road is called High Lane and runs from Stalling Busk to Cray, as far as I can remember. I had only had the Jeep for a matter of months at this point, so please forgive me for being cautious. Patriot is a 2.0 Diesel, Sport model, 4x4 Freedom Drive I.

Im about to purchase this car in the next month or so. The off roading you were doing is about the max I would ever do.

What is this car like then and what is your overall opinion? I will mainly use it on the road but want something good in the winter and I occasionally need to take it down rough farm tracks and into fields etc for work and for recreational purposes when doing camping etc.

@nathanharold1987 I think you've made a great choice. I'm really enjoying the Patriot, no regrets and I've had it nearly three years. Unbeatable value and great looks. On the road it's very good to drive. The diesel pulls superbly so you'll have no trouble overtaking, and it corners so well that you can accelerate out of corners in a way that you simply do not expect to be possible in a 4x4.

@nathanharold1987 I'm praying for lots more snow this winter. The Jeep simply loves it! The ground cleaance lets it down if you attempt more serious off-roading and I pulled off the plastic under-tray when crossing a stream....but I think it's great and I'm struggling to find another car that ticks so many boxes at an affordable price. Let me know how it goes.

@peacewarrior No, I let them pass and never caught them up....until I was on tarmac again then cruised past them at 80mph.

This would be a good car if it was not for the poor departure angles and ground clearance
