Just testing out my new shure sm57 mic on my snare. I highly suggest this microphone to anyone for anything. It records any instrument with great quality, and does a decent job with vocals aswell. It costs arend $100.

The vids a little quiet so turn it up a bit I guess.

  • I've got a who0le new kit. If you check out my newer stuff, everything is fixed up.

  • Samson drum mics. Got them in a 5 mic set.

  • I took the clip off of my old snare mic and bolted it on.

  • hey nice sound is this eqed or compressed at all? also what tom mics and oh are you useing and mixer?

  • what mic clips are you using and where did you get them? im thinking about getting an sm57 for my snare too, but i need a clip that clips on to the drum rim

  • @WeakGuy,you could but you'd still need a bass drum mic.

  • @aminuk23 sm 57 is great on drums the 58 is mostly for vocals it depends what your actually using the mic for

  • What do you connect your mic into? An amp?

  • theyre both good. but different.

sm57 is unidirectional, and mostly picks up what is going on right in front of it

sm 58 is omnidirectional and picks up more

i dont drum but what i think most people do is put an sm 58 overhead to get everything, and an sm57 by the bass drum to get that powerful bass drum, which doesnt get picked up as much with the 58

  • SM57 is for micing instruments, and SM58 is primarily for vocals, so it depends what you're using it for.

  • Sounds really good.

Could I use the SM57 as a general overhead mic to record my whole kit?

  • I recommend the SM57 for guitar recording is a very nice mic, I have it.

  • it depends what your using it for sm57 are more for micing snare drums and gutiar cabnets and sm58s are better for singing in
