The Coming Ice Age - Climate Hysteria Circa 1978

In May of 1978, the TV show "In Search Of..." aired an episode entitled "The Coming Ice Age." All manner of experts and climate scientists were trotted out to warn the world of the run-away global cooling that was just around the corner.

It's too bad that the original host, Rod Serling, had died and been replaced by Leonard Nimoy. The Twilight Zone vibe would have better suited the content of this episode -- as well as Al Gore's remake of the same theme.

That's how sequels normally are: not as good as the original but more laden with bombast and special effects.

@emeihongshen "Global Warming" is a misnomer. It's global climate change and includes extremes of heat and cold. Scientists look at evidence and make an evaluation based on the facts at the time, that's all anyone can do.

sorry to alarm you all but we are now going into a new ice age. the recent warming is just the death throws of the last 200 year warm period. these forces are far stronger than carbon in the atmosphere. google maunder minimum, little ice age, and la ninia. then you will not think this is funny.

Look, Al Gore's got a great deal. We can pay him to stop this. Politicians have figured out how to stop the temperature from changing by more than 2C. It only involves a huge tax, one child policy and total monitoring and control of our lives. What's the big deal? Don't people understand the environment? God, deniers are stupid.

My best friend doesn't remember any of this, and he's only two years younger than me! He's hell bent on Global Warming is coming, and I related the Coming Ice Age Scare of the late seventies, and he thinks I'm crazy. I asked my parents if we'd have time to get out of the way before a glacier slid over our house!(I was five or six at the time...)
