As many as 30 mountaineers began the ascent last Friday. Confortola says the expedition was plagued by inexperience and poor equipment. He says some ropes and spikes easily broke. He told a scientific research group of feeling helpless when he and others made a futile attempt to rescue the three Koreans dangling from a rope. Yeah pakistan is a very very beautiful country K2 naanga Barbat then Rakaposhi malka barbat such a beautiful mountains and lot of lakes and valleys...i m love in it

K2 is an elevation [2nd highest]. Everest is a "range" with around 10 peaks. K2 being a peak has quite a vertical ascend with no alternative routes. Everest has three passages, two of which are more lenient to man. K2 is simply a savage peak, part of an isolated glacier & weather is far fierce. Most climbing teams wait-out for days/hours often, and climb on bottled oxygen. Naturally, K2 has more fatalities than Everest. K2's peak weather patterns are violent & meet climbers without warnings.
