A look at six performances of Regan and Goneril at the very end of Act 1, Scene 1. This is the first time they are alone together and discuss their future. Analyze performances/productions for what they tell us about Goneril and Regan's relationship, power dynamics, and willingness to cast off their father. Performances include:
* Director Ernest Warde's 1916 silent film (later put to a score) featuring Ina Hammer as Goneril and Edith Diestel as Regan,
* Director Edwin Sherin's 1974 production featuring Rosalind Cash as Goneril and Ellen Holly as Regan,
* Director Tony Davenall's 1976 production featuring Beth Harris as Goneril and Ann Lynn as Regan,
* Director Jonathan Miller's 1982 production featuring Gillian Barge as Goneril and Penelope Wilton as Regan,
* Director Michael Elliott's 1983 production featuring Dorothy Tutin as Goneril and Diana Rigg as Regan,
* and Director Trevor Nunn's 2008 production featuring Frances Barber as Goneril and Monica Dolan as Regan.
