The United States Forest Service in the Mt. Hood National Forest has recently began remodeling the scenic and historic Bagby Hot Springs without seeking public comment. Further, they wish to Privatize this popular hot springs by handing it over to a for profit company. The video provides background and contact information for viewers to both weigh in on the privatization and request a public comment period.

  • keep up the good fight!!! I am from the east coast but was at bagby two months prior to the making of this video....such a gorgeous place and to me made for one of the most special nights of my life!!!! again. keep up the good fight

  • It should remain open to the public. I'm tired of having to pay to do everything in this country. Can't we enjoy our land without having to shell out lumps of cash every time we want to enjoy the beauty or explore.

  • I haven't had time to inquire what Friends of Bagby have to say, but if they're a true non-profit, they should be able to bid on the contract to run Bagy. I quite going in the early 90's when you weren't sure if you'd come back Saturday evening to your car not being vandalized and ran-sacked. Didn't happen to me, but I've seen the cars with broken windows. Doesn't sound like it's any better. What a shame. Alvord hot springs is more to my liking - just hate the drive!

  • They still haven't had a meeting yet?

  • @lawndebri Shut...the....fuck....UP!!! OPB is the only non mainstream objective look at things in America. Bagby had problems with crime big time, that's the issue. Not The forest falling in on itself. You can't say "one day see 3 families and think oh, every things fine"...You think volunteers are going to act as bouncers? Only the Forest service can manage shit right or else it would have been...duh. think about it. Not ramble on with a private video with no one debating against you

  • shut the fuck up, want to see the hot spring, the hike in, and the scenery not someone rating and raving about com'n cents. SHOW ME YOUR TITS and i'll call it even

  • Dear USFS What part of private exploitation on public land do you not understand? However much some recreational areas on public lands can attract irresponsible people, it is equally irresponsible to outsource the management to private companies. A lot of people welcome and support USFS employees brave enough to spend time in the field, respond to emegrency medical situations and deter violent criminals and sex offenders from these high use areas.

  • if I see "Thousand Trails" up there, I'm moving to Alaska

  • Thanks for this information--I love Bagby and i cringed when i saw that it was going to be featured on OPB because that means somebody is looking to profit from it...
