How to get better FPS in TF2

Q: I don't like the no shaders/shinyness. How do I fix this?
A: Change -dxlevel 80 to -dxlevel 90

Q: The config you gave me makes the game look like shit. How do I undo this?
A: Just delete the config.

Q: My game crashes after I changed the game to dxlevel 80. How do I make it stop?
A: That's either Valve's or your computer's fault. Most of the time it's valve's fault as source isn't exactly what I'd call "stable".

You can dramatically increase the fps with the same fps just by writing this in your console mat_dxlevel 80. My old 5500 FX was getting 20-40 fps with dxlevel 80. It was unable to render in dx9 mode tho.

I was getting 0.8 fps in dx9 and the only actual dx9 visible model on screen was my weapon everything else that was dx9 was basicly plain white.

I now got a Sapphire 4670 and it works pretty well. Nope I can't get any better because it's an agp slot.

use -dxlevel 81 because with -dxlevel 80 the water is white

@mckingdomsservent Your ping has nothing to do with your computer. Ping is network lag, and it's usually higher when the server you're connecting to is further away.
