Why is this fella doing a Christian inspired hammer rite? It's about as credible as reading runes for divination.

fake

@pgv11 That was the Hammer Rite.

@NorseHeathengirl2345 Yes you do believe in G-d. G-d and Odin are the same word family. The word God is derived from the proto-germanic root *ǥuđán which is the origin of the name Odin. Odin has many names my friend - I suggest you learn a few of them so that you do not deny him. May Asatru live forever!

Unfortunately, some do. Those are the ones who make us look crazy.

Daviciacus seems to be right... I am from Brazil, and I do the entire rituals using portuguese (my mother language), except when using runes, or special words, I think I can do it in english too, but whats the point to use english in a ritual? I use mage robes too, but its because a special situation requires special clothes, whats the problem? The actual media made some ceremonial objects and cothes become famous and labelad like child games... we dont need to change and lost the origins

thats not a " Fake norse accent" its dutch...

@HoundofOdin I agree, but keep in mind that some Heathens wear viking clothing or wear weapons because it connects them to their ancestors, a big part of Asatru. it also relates to the thriving days of Asatru, the viking age. I enjoy wearing Medieval clothing and wearing a blade when i practice asatru rituals, but that is also because i enjoy medieval role playing and LARPing. just because somone wears such things while associating with Asatru does not mean they are faking it or foolish.

@shakama2 the fact is man is that it is funny "beware the god that cannot laugh"
I think there is room for many types of ritual as long as they are based in tradition and faith. It's hard with so little existing since the Christian memory wipe.

I am an Asatruar, and I see nothing wrong with wearing Viking Age clothing or weapons in a blot or sumble. It is more conducive to what we are trying to do and it is a good way to honor the ancestors. Nothing wrong with adding to the ceremonial feel of it all. It's not like we dress like that all the time.
