This video shows a fixed action pattern in the Grelag goose. The goose will try to roll nearby eggs into its nest. After the egg is taken away, it will continue to try to roll the egg back into the nest, pulling its head back as if an imaginary egg is still being maneuvered by the underside of its beak.
The goose will do this pattern for other types of objects as well, such as golf balls and door knobs.

actually, when looking at the actions of the goose through a control theory perspective, the goose is continuing the action as if it were to find the egg as it cannot see it . its used to the feel of pressure when rolling the egg into the nest but when the pressure is lost, the goose continues to attempt to restore the pressure of the egg.

A Fixed Action Pattern (FAP) is an instinctive behavior which is activated by a trigger (in this case the egg). When the Fixed Action Pattern is triggered it is always continued to completion even when the trigger is taken away. That's why the goose continues moving as if the egg was there, even after the person took away the egg.
