A demonstration of an upcoming Flash API for handling multiple Wii Remotes. While I only have two remotes available for this demonstration, all four Wii Remotes report their position to the Flash movie.

You may notice an icon called "PRIMARY" jumping around. This icon is the Flash movie reporting which remote is currently the one browsing the page. This is the one that is NOT greyed out and is capable of clicking links. You'll note that the Wii Remote graphics light up when a remote is connected.

For this video, I disconnected remotes by popping their batteries. Crude, but effective. You'll notice that when all remotes are disconnected, the Flash movie reports an error similar to the error seen in most Wii games.

And yes, that is the distance and angle of the remote you're seeing in the text...

  • Just use WiiCade. Click the orange "Upload" button on the right. As long as "Sandbox" is set to "Yes", the file will not appear to other users. Also, make sure you select the "WiiCade API 2.0" checkbox to ensure that your movie is properly configured for Wii controller support.

  • Well... about that...

I dont have the SLIGHTEST IDEA of where should I upload my files, so I created an acound in Yahoo (geocities).

Can you suggest me of a place where I can upload the files so I can try them in my wii SO I can see if they work?

  • Where did you upload the file to? If you use the WiiCade sandbox (just upload and set Sandbox == Yes) then it should Just Work(TM). If you run your own web server, you need to install the Server Components. I highly recommend visiting the WiiCade forums for further tech support. :-)

  • I went to that page. It really rocks!

    BUT.....

I tried to create a simple game that detects the rotation of the wii remote, but it didn't work!

    Any idea why?

  • That game doesn't work on my Wii.

  • awesome... i didnt know you could read the angle too.. that rules :)

  • My computer is too slow

  • I love you guys.

  • k... no problem XD

  • Glad you like it! Now go tell all your friends, neighbors, enemies, business associates, dog sitters, maids, bosses, and anyone else you can think of. More traffic to WiiCade means that we can fund more cool games! ;-)
