Just because a band gives their song to a commercial or a movie, it doesn't mean they sell themselvs. They just made a song, someone like it and asked their permission and they accepted because this way more people will hear of them. I like artists who make music from pure pleasure and love and that don't care about the charts and commercial side, because music comes from love not from material desires,but I see nothing wrong in having your song in a commercial as long as the song is true.

@timmay301 a lot of bands i like i didn't hear on the radio or ads. i had to use the internet to listen on youtube or downloading. if i like a cd enough i'll buy it after i download which i do regularly. the people who download and listen endlessly without buying it in the end prob wouldn't have bought it in the first place. the only part of the music industry which is being hurt is the commercial side. bands that have good music will still get recognition + make a living from music

well, i hate to play the devil's advocate but it's easy to be all holy when you are a brilliant musician with a soul piercing voice and an awesome band which got famous in a time where there was no downloading. He doesn't sell himself out because he has a choice. Many musicians have none.
