Correct me if I'm wrong. Wouldn't this method of converting make the layers look like cardboard cut-outs. I know the process has improves since, because they can make the image look round, but in 2006?

The more layers there are, the more objects come off the screen. The layers are screen size, not round. The outline of characters and objects are duplicated and showed in parrell to it's parent copy. The REAL-D 3D glasses work different then the old version. The right (original image)side sees the horizontal image, and the left side sees the duplicate. After the images are copied and composed, layers of dept are added to extend the image closer to the viewer and farther from the screen.

i love tim burtons movies its just the gothic look and the pictures and just theyer all realy good! im telling all who read this post to atleast watch nightmare befor christmas once or perish to your grave with bad movie watching for the rest of your life.>=)
