I met Ian at his house near Gromont for lunch a few years ago, when he agreed to help me with the book I was writing on the village where he was brought up Elloughton Near Hull. He took a great interest in what I was doing agreeing to write the Foreword for my book .
Leaving after 4 hours he gave me a big hug and wouldn't let go for ages. Lovely man will be sadly missed by many.
