  • cont. A fully portable, complete gym in bag. I have mine hanging in my garage full, but I do take it w/ me on training days w/ the athletes I work with. The athletes I train have also trained with the TRX system, from what I see and hear...the amount of stability and strength gained is unmatched because the amount of Type II muscle fibers that fire is doubled when you work "explosive" movements while trying to stabilize the joints. Kinda hard to do that with DBs and a bench.

  • DBs and benches are tried and proven methods but as you can see there is no way that DBs and a bench can simulate functional ROM to ALL body segments.

The point of rotational body weight training is to incorporate the natural movement of the body in ALL it's movement planes (frontal, sagittal and transverse) with resistance. Of course, there are other devices out there and yes, I use them...most especially the cable column BUT I can't put the cable column in my car (let alone a 2 gallon bag)....

  • My favorite is from 1:17 to 1:40. Great exercises!

OandGlawyer, the War Machine is fantastic for whole body work in all three planes of motion. Creating rotation or stabilizing against it. Most dumbell workouts I've seen are overly focussed on the frontal and saggital plane, barely addressing rotation. In life, we rotate all the time!

  • This does look pretty cool. But I have to wonder is this really better than (or perhaps even as good as) a decent set of adjustable dumbells and an adjustable bench? I'm thinking it is doubtful. Still, it could be worth a try just to introduce some variety into a person's workout.
