Do you have any idea what you're talking about? First off, they're from Texas (all three of them). Second of all, they said they didn't like George Bush or the war... they said nothing of not supporting America. (If not liking those two things makes one "unAmerican," you should come take the flag down off its pole in my front yard). Third, it's not "generic" as much as it they just didn't over dramatize it like so many do. They allowed the song to be amazing in and of itself.

This is the most beautiful version I've ever heard and I admire the way the Dixie Chicks stand up for the truth and what's right.

Not only was it pretty & beautiful, but the harmonies were intelligent and inspired. You'd expect Natalie to do the heavylifting and hit the high notes while the other two played backup, but in fact she kept it alto and the other two sang various parts of the melody.

A truly inspired harmony arrangement!
