I love my face, I love my mind and I love my heart. The only thing I care about is being the best my man's ever had.

Ha,I think TheHaupststurmfuhrer was joking.

I know I should be offended by what Roger says, but I think I would find it quite flattering, really.
Saying something like that isnt the problem. Its treating a woman like a piece of ass at all times where the problem starts. And Roger has definetly treated Joan as more than that.

I love there was a time when this was romantic

The things I would do to roam Christina Hendricks' hillsides... :)

@aqua1993 I think I said it once already, but I'm gonna say it again: should Roger have chosen his words any differently, they would have become condescending considering his character and the nature of the relationship between him and Joan. I don't understand why you think it's necessary for Joan to hear that she's an intelligent, independent woman when they both know it anyway - to choose to compliment her sensuality shows that even knowing they're doing wrong they're not afraid of each other.

Gah, that classic Mad Men piano in the background. Too good.

@aqua1993 i think you're looking at the term "piece of ass" much too literally. It's meant to say that the individual in general is sexually appealing/satisfying, not just focusing on the posterior.

@EngelbertEdelholz I'm merely saying that it wasn't "just what she needed to hear" as there are many other things he could have said that demonstrated love (albeit with different results). But by mentioning only her ass, he does appear to ignore her other assets (picking any other asset would cause the others to be ignored) even though he might deeply respect them. This apparent ignorance could, eventually, be perceived by Joan as true ignorance in which case Joan might have doubts about Roger.

@EngelbertEdelholz Hello, I know this conversation is old, just stumbled upon it and found it interesting so I'd like to continue the discourse. Anyways, what I'm saying is that there are plenty of things that Roger could have said that would have shown Joan that he cared deeply for her and that truly represented what he felt for her. We know what he chose. I'm not arguing that by choosing to show his affection through her ass that he is objectifying her.
I've never seen Christina Hendricks so close... it's ridiculous how gorgeous this woman is and I'm not even into red heads

Sad thing is, I'm not so sure that he thinks he's making light of the situation. Considering it's Roger, that might very well be the deepest, most sincere compliment he can think of.
