This final boss, named Great Thing, is a sperm whale, but I feel, as with some of the other bosses, it needs to be bigger, especially to fit the intense music. The ending has the two ships, looking more bird-like than usual, flying over a city powering on, possibly to return home. Nice end credits for the laserdisc (I wonder if the music is from the game credits?). It's neat that it features footages of the zone bosses done (within it?) with the title in the background.
It seems that the end zones are of each of the stage types that are present for the game. More of the fallen Roman empire structures can be found here. THAT WAS PRETTY CLOSE, too; If the player would have died in any point of the stage, there would be much difficulty since once the first one occurs, it can equal getting a Game Over quickly as it's hard to recover back the power (as I've heard). I wonder if the ship-in-barrier icon can have the same effect as getting a shield power-up?
