I remember seeing this when I was a kid on HBO and it scared me so much I declare war on the ants in my yard with fireworks.

Thanks for posting this. This movie scared the hell ouf of me when i was a kid, but i couldn´t stop watching it. The scene with the ant coming out of someone´s hand gave me nightmares for weeks. Curiously though, never saw this movie on VHS or DVD.

One of my favourite movies. I also like Bug! which is in a similar vein but more sensationalist.

fantastic movie.
The Film is intelligently written, and well acted. It does contain some disturbing imagery. The film is particularly dark in tone, mankind goes about trying to bully something, that in this case, is far smarter then we could anticipate, smarter then us. I am sure there will be some who say this film moves too slow, don't expect a thrill a minute joyride, It's plot narrative moves slowly, as in another movie about mankind meeting aliens, Kubrick's, "2001 A Space Odyssey"

Alright, there are some cosmic disturbences in space which make ants team up with eachother and kill their natural predators. Some scientists investigate ant-made pillers and them destroy them, pissing the ants off. Them they attack the lab the scientists are working in, then kill them. Then the ants take over the world.

I fucking hate insects.
