one of the last true literates of today's world of ubiquitous technology. A Joyce of the critique. A true genius.

I very much hope that Prof. Bloom recognizes the immensity of his achievement. It's easy to despair when considering what has become of mainstream culture in the United States, but he's right about the myriad "solitary deep readers." Through his books he has been and continues to be my teacher.
