Grumpy Jii-san's been watching cartoons for way too long. Today, he launches into some wide open space.

This was recorded near Nobb Butte just outside Arizona's Eagletail Mountains Wilderness Area, which is a pretty dull place.

  • space debris... In June 1983, a fleck of paint that was only one one-hundred-twenty-fifth of an inch across struck a window of the space shuttle challenger. It weakened the window and it cost 50000 dollars, before the shuttle flew again.

  • Ah, Planetes....this show kinda fell off of my radar for a few years (no thanks to GaoGaiGar). Considering how I love character development, which GGG really didn't have, I should get my hands on this...

Also: whoever did the voice work for the guy Hachimaki was arguing with was the protagonist in the Jap. dub of GGG. More incentive to get this show!

Thanks for reminding me of this series, Gramps!

I wolud recommend to watch those short anime :) It's good.

  • Ah, Planetes. Good stuff by a good author. I was really happy to see that the author is doing such a good job with Vinland Saga.

  • It's realistic, right up until you really consider the premise. Vol 2 of the U.S. dub contains an interview of two scientists from the NASA Orbital Debris Section, and as they said, going up to collect garbage which is moving at thousands of miles per hour, and much of which is far too small to detect, it be impractical just in estimating the energy conversion in trying to collect it, it certainly wouldn't be profitable at least.

  • You are awesome.

  • Thank you Grumpy. Im almost done with this anime. Although I really disliked how near the end all the characters basically lose there minds and become total opposites of themselves.

  • It looks like you cut yourself off at the end O.o

  • People who give a realistic rendition of space always have my respect...

  • i -loved- this anime.
