  • 400 yards? That's over 100 inches of drop or 25 MOA with the 20gr FMJ. (With 36 ft lbs of energy remaining.) Does your centerpoint scope dial up that far? I've got a 4-16X44 centerpoint on my 10/22, and it only dials 20 minutes up after being zeroed at 50 yards. (1 revolution = 14 MOA).

  • Mine goes pretty far i think it might be 30 MOA not sure but i know i can go 104 clicks with plenty more room and even though the bullet falls out of supersonic speed it is still very accurate. Since this is a .17 i just have my zero at 100 yards and is your scope a .125 click? mine is a .250 so that also makes a difference... im going to get a better scope for those precise close shots and better accuracy long shots like a 4-16X50

  • It's 1/4 MOA per click on my centerpoint (or .25). On my Savage BTVS 93R17 heavy barrel in 17 HMR, I'm running an EGW 1 piece 20 MOA scope base and a Konus Pro Mil-dot 6-24X44 power scope (1/8 MOA click). 4 mils plus 20 MOA base plus 30 minutes in the scope gives me 62 minutes up past my 100 yard zero. I've sent 20 gr FMJ's out to 200+ yards before, and granted my best groups have been .57 MOA. But 400 yards? A light 5 mph 1/4 value wind shooting past 200 yards deflects +7 inches.

  • I dont know as much as you do bout all the "MOA" material but i do understand it and use it and yes 400 yards with a slight wind takes much correction but i have made incredibly good shots at that range and groupings within a foot if wind doesnt change so all in all its a difficult shot by far but in the right conditions i hope to even reach out to 500 yards but i wont expect any good results when i do

  • I'm not saying it can't be done, but post a video about it when you do. If you can keep all the rounds on an 8.5"x11" piece of paper at 500 yards I'll be mighty impressed. Maybe if you were shooting inside of a long section of a subway tunnel so as to reduce the wind deflection.

  • lol trust me i have done 500 yards and it seemed like keeping a body target grouping in mild winds was hard as hell ( completely stock rifle by the way) but i agree even a 13" steel plate with this caliber would be amazing but im gonna see how well i can get my rifle shooting and if i ever attempt that i will record it as that would be rare footage for that cal.
