As we've watched presidents in both parties fail to pass their agendas, it's become increasingly clear that elections are no longer where decisions are made in this country. That weakening of our democracy should frighten everyone equally, whether or not you support the people currently in power.

Our goal is to restore public trust in our government by passing a hybrid of small-dollar donations and public financing of elections.

  • The reason this sounds like the TEA Party is because many in the TEA Party agree with this idea that Congress is overrun with a bunch of greedy career politicians who bend to special interests instead of paying attention to the American people and the Constitution. Although some may not agree with all of the political ideas of the TEA Party movement, this is somethiung that people from many political backgrounds can get behind. I say amend the Constitution to require term limits in Congress.

  • This is NOT Tea Party. This is getting back democracy that actually functions.

  • All parties are supported (bribed) from the same pocket.Whoever wins elections very little will change. President and Senate are hand picked by corporations and bankers. Our government is ran by people who are working on NWO agenda. Democracy and Freedom are just illusions created to calm obeying sheep

  • Ron Paul wants this money out of our government! He has for 3 decades. If this is the true problem. Ron Paul is the true champion to fix this problem.

  • Smart guy! And systemic changes are necessary to address the problems highlighted here.

But please explain to me Professor. How can you evoke the principles of limited government, and cite the Founders and Franklin as you do in other speeches, and then turn around and support a SCOTUS justice who thinks the federal government has the power to mandate our diet? Just how do you resolve that contradiction?

  • @rmkeeton Amen!

  • The Repeace brand is trying to raise the same issues and awareness for these causes without politics, by getting to the 65 Million kids that now are more interested in American Idol and Itunes than this. If all you need is votes and awareness, for this cause, reach out to Repeace. All you need is an idea, a strong design, celebrities and a clothing instead of protests.

  • @bagwandave No, the Tea Party would be using attacks and religious bigotry to forward their Christian Theocracy agenda, not intelligent arguments with a focus on the true problems.

  • Lessig is awesome.

  • brilliantly done. The message is totally on point, but the dynamic graphics were stellar. Well done.
