In the 1990s, Estonia's President Lennart Meri coined the phrase "Eesti Nokia" when he called on his countrymen to create a world-class product or service which would serve as Estonia's calling card the world over. It hasn't happened.
Or if it has happened, it hasn't been properly reported. Estonia's image in the world is not negative, though the recognition it receives is often little more than a patronizing "attaboy" from the West. As they saying goes, if you want something, you have to take it. Nobody's going to just hand it to you. So let's help Estonia claim the ground that's hers, provided she can earn it.
