This is a (very) work-in-progress music tracker which runs on the PlayStation and uses Nintendo's SSEQ+SBNK+SWAR formats as input data. The music playing this time is "Battle 2" from Final Fantasy IV.

I was finally able to fix pitch/sample note issues with the playback, even though I was forced to down sample the instruments (22050 KHz) as the hardware didn't really like weird frequencies such as 32768 KHz. But then again, it's barely noticeable so nothing's really lost in the conversion process.

  • I was wondering if there were any trackers for the old PlayStation. Is this a public project or are there any other similar projects?

  • @furtall: check this SDK: h t t p : //code.google . com/p/psxsdk/downloads/list (make sure to drop the spaces)

It contains, among other stuff, a fully working MOD tracker which uses Hitmen's format. As for my project, sorry but it's not open source (not for now, at least).

  • What is a music tracker?

  • @uqqxkk: a tracker is a program that plays music using a music-sheet format and a set of instruments. Basically, it's some sort of MIDI program.
