  • If the vehicle is driveable, why not just drive it to its destination?

  • I got no problem with it but do you want to get stuck behind it,for 50 miles.

  • I would not mind if it would pull over to the shoulder and let vehicles pass when needed.

For all theffort of loading and unloading, plus the additional weight of another heavy vehicle, semi+trailer, would it not be cheaper to drive it?

    Thank you.

  • In some instances yes,but when you factor in the thousands,of graders, backhoes, scrapers.you would be sharing the road with on a daily basis,I'm pretty sure the public would not be real happy about it.and good luck getting it there, the same day..thanks Robert

  • What is the maximum speed on that rig?

With suchuge wheels, I bet it would be high.

But you have a good point.

Plus it is probably not street worthy.

(Lights, turn signals, brake lights, etc.)

Years ago I moved a big piece. By the time they loaded it and unloaded it, I could have drivien it to its destination and no trucking costs.

  • I'm not sure on the speed 25,30 maybe.most of your graders and backhoes, are generally road worthy, and their have been plenty of times where I have said the exact same thing it would be quicker for them to road it.thanks Rob.

  • Please remove the Cozad Tag as this is a Murray trailer.

  • Haha this is in saltlake city, Utah m! I see that truck and trailer often. I drive one similar to that but my trailers a bit smaller.

  • @robertgift yeah? then people wouldnt make money

  • @379peterbilt530 For all the trouble of loading and unloading and expense, I'd rather simply drive the machine to it's destination.

  • @robertgift why wouldnt you want a truck to drive it to it's destination, its easier

  • at my mumz work i saw an fucking 12 axle lowboy i couldnt take a pic cuz i didnt have my camera or fone

  • @robertgift They are only hydraulically "bump" steered when empty when backing up. when loaded the rear axles just follow. Can not use the hydraulic steering for backing when loaded on this model trailer. The trailer dose pivot/steer between axles 7 and 8 (counting the truck)

Basically what it comes down to this model trailer...corners have to be taken really wide!

  • Weight carried to each end onto two four-wheel "trucks".

    How does it take curves?

    Are the "trucks" hydraulically steered?

  • @robertgift It depends on the state(s) you are operating in.. This looks like California.. I dont know the rules there, but driving a machine, like a scraper, down the road would require a state permit. It would have to be a self-powered move, and probably would require escorts, and be restricted to certtain times of day.. Again it depends on the state.. Usually its best to load it on a trailer and haul it at road speed (55mph+) like in this video.
