Having grown up in Jersey, we had Schaefer everywhere back in the day. My Dad kept the fridge full of it - it was THE only beer in our house. I remember sneaking a can or two when he wasn't looking or when he was on fishing trips. The taste was absolutely delicious. It's incredible to me that some billionaire hasn't scooped up this once magnificent label and returned it to its rightful place in the beer world. God, it would be great to see it make a comeback...
I remember my father, who worked for Schaefer after serving in the USMC in WWII,took my two older brothers and I to the World's Fair in 1964.He was a regional sales director and we got the royal treatment at the Schaefer Center.I remebr it like it was yesterday. What a thrill!I have a photo of my pops, my two older brothers and I standing with Rocky Graziano outside the Center.Thx for the post my friend.
The narrator of this extended 1965 ad is Win Elliot, who was host of Schaefer's "RACE OF THE WEEK" (local horse racing) which aired in New York on WNEW-TV's Saturday afternoon schedule during the '60s...
