What's happening in basketball is analogous to what's occurred in world soccer for years. As you know, it's not unusual to see Argentineans and Brazilians play for other national teams due to the depth of their country's player pool. Globalization has reached basketball as well, and it won't surprise me to see swarms of high school basketball players skip college to play professionally in Europe.

yep NBA NFL and MLB have yet to grasp globalization when it comes to players and NBA is really gonna be hurting if they dont do something bout it, they talk bout expanding to europe but really why would you when you have a legit legues and teams that can play with our NBA squads

She just want to play basketball, people~ That's her life. Other players play overseas, too... WNBA players do not get paid much like NBA players do. Be realistic people. Leave Becky alone.

She was not offered a try out with the US. She was left off of the 23 person roster and was invited after it was learned of the offer from Russia. She was already a Russian citizen.

Good point broh!! Chris Kaman played for Germany. Germany had some cat from ghana play on the world cup team. Hell the majority of France national soccer team is black.... everybody is doing it, I dont blame Becky at all.

I don't support anyone who leaves their born country(other than people leaving for amnesty reasons)to go play for another country. For or against us. All for money or to play in your "dream" game. It's absurd and selfish. Accept the facts as they are. You weren't good enough. By the way she was offered to go to the USA basketball camp. She declined. She will regret her decision for years to come.

Yeah... It's the same shame that Bernard Lagat will be running 1500 meters in Beijing not for his native Kenya, but for the US...

Becky is 31. A life in sports is short. That will be probably her last Olympics.

And she was invited to US Team the day AFTER she accepted the deal from Russian OC.

I know it's nothing new in other places, but it's still a shame. It's not the olympics if countrys can just purchase players like that. It's not league play. It should be who's country has the best athletic program, not the deepest pockets. I don't have a problem with players going to other countries to play professionally, but once the olympics start, they should be heading back to there own country to represent them, and if they're not good enough, tough.
