  • @Liberty252 people having negaive experience with the device is due 100% to the hardware. Being a first generation device there have been several hardware issues like any other first gen device. It's a failure due to the worst marketing campaign in history. However, there has been not one single person to have had a negative experience with the webOPERATING SYSTEM. if you have any proof of a legitimate tech blog that says otherwise please cite it.

  • @gulrezm Why is the WebOs such a failure so far? So many folks have had a negative experience on the devices. And no I am not being sarcastic.

  • @AppleManifesto of course if you have never utilized the elegance of the webos card system...any kind of half-assed technique that lets you listen to pandora while you read an email can pass as 'multitasking' to the masses...apparently that includes you!

  • @AppleManifesto 2) this new fake multitasking feature requires developers to go back and rewrite the software so that it's compatible with iphone...i.e. they are spending even more time on IPHONE ONLY apps which increases LOCK-IN when they COULD be using their time more wisely making cross-platform applications..

and lastly...it is just UGLY the way it handles multi tasking...it's just a scroll bar with 7 icons...you dont see a preview of whats occuring....you HAVE to switch to the app to view

  • @AppleManifesto secondly...when i say house apps i am referring to the 7 OS-level operations that are being provided to the applications, namely: audio, VOIP, location, push notification, etc. this is not 'multi-tasking' in the technical sense, simply the apps are FROZEN in the background and the OS is providing JUST THESE 7 SERVICES TO THE APPS....why is that bad?? because 1) you are limiting your 3rd party developers because they might want to use a service that is not included in those 7!

  • @AppleManifesto do you even know what a troll is? consider yourself...commenting anti-Palm pro-Apple comments on a PALM PRE VIDEO. that's called being a troll. secondly, why do i HAVE to have additional software or 3rd party services (some of which cost money) to load music onto my mp3 player?? my contention isn't whether it is POSSIBLE to use 3rd party services...but the very fact that any kind of software is necessary...why can't i just plug my ipod in and view my mp3 files like any usb drive?

  • @gulrezm First of all, apparently you have a problem with the concept of facts! Apple has not limited multitasking to 7 house apps, it applies to all Apps, including all 3-party Apps! And for your information since your inclined to miss the facts, depending on the API's the developers use some 3-party apps will run in the background! Did you miss the preview of Pandora? It ran in the background as other Apps were being used and launched! So many developers, such as, Skype will take advantage!!

  • @gulrezm If you knew your facts, you can actually use your iPod on many different software and services, but people prefer iTunes because it works seamlessly, and for it being a "memory hog" either you're running an older version or your computer sucks, because on mine it launches almost instantly and runs flawlessly. Get your facts together troll...

  • @AppleManifesto oh and i saw the apple multitask preview...please be honest and compare it with webos...its HORRENDOUS. it is not really multitasking at all! apple has limited it to only 7 house apps that will be used in 'multi tasking'...and i use that term lightly. on webOS the apps actually RUN in the background, on iphone 4.0 'multitasking' the application simply FREEZES until you revisit it again. that is NOT a desktop experience as much as you want to think so...

  • @AppleManifesto and just because millions of people are forced to use itunes because its the only way they can use their apple mp3 player does not mean it's functionally popular...according to your logic it would be fun to pay taxes because millions of people do!! itunes is a memory hogging store front for apple to sell music...it takes forever to load a large library of music...i hate using my ipod for music transfer i prefer using my no name brand mp3..
