I don't know if this will be that intersting to watch, but I'm putting it up anyway. Before you watch, you should probably know the story: Hal 9000 (the ships computer) told the spacedudes to check some malfunctioning equipment. As this scene begins, they've checked out the equipment and it looks fine, so they suspect that HAL 9000 himself is the malfunction.
This is a live "directed scene" from Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey". I shot it for a directing class at my school in 2005. The idea is that you pick a scene from a movie, cast the movie, rehearse, then perform the scene live for the class. Sort of like a play. The guy doing the voice for HAL is standing off screen.
Of course this version was edited with sound effects, music, and cutaway shots, but otherwise it's all from the live performance in the class. I should probably also point out that this is actually a combination of three scenes from the movie mushed up together.
I know other schools do classes like this, so I guess if you're taking a directing class this video will be much more interesting to you. That should be a pretty big demographic. :)

  • You got your OWN HAL! Wow! I give you credit for doing this. It's a mighty tough proposition to do - and without Mr. Kubrick et. al's input), you do VERY admirably. Kudos!

  • haha nt .. if it's live - respect ;)
