2 December 2011, Neurodriver played a blinding set to close the Liquid Records Room at the Coronet. It was spoilt by the abrupt and unbelievably heavy handed way the Security closed the room, in all my 25 years of clubbing, I have never seen anything like it ever. I really hope that the girl that the Security guy randomly assaulted is OK. Basically, everyone was having a really nice time as you can see. No hassle, no problems. Straight after I finished filming this, a girl I'd never seen before (who was a friend of the DJ) asked whether I could email Neurodriver the video I had made, and I gave her my mobile for her to type in his email address. Then suddenly this huge bouncer came up the stairs from nowhere, the DJ was playing the next track, and the bouncer screamed at her (no one else) that the upstairs room was now closed and she had to go downstairs NOW!! She (as you would) said to him "The DJ's still playing!" and he started screaming at her (not bothering anyone else or stopping the DJ) and started dragging her towards the stairs. She was clearly in pain. The bouncer, who was a complete headcase, was grabbing her in a very painful position, pulling her down towards the top of the stairs. I retrieved my mobile phone from her before the bouncer could get to it, but the bouncer tried to grab it back off me (!) and bent my little finger right back double, it is still in absolute agony and I will go to the doctor if it's not healed by next weekend, I currently can't shake anyone's hand without pain shooting through my hand. Anyway, I don't know what happened to the girl. A male friend of hers ran over as she was being dragged to the stairs and said to the bouncer "What are you doing? Why are you dragging her away" and this is the reaction the bouncer clearly wanted, as he then started shoving this random guy. Another bouncer came upstairs, I went downstairs to the middle section to find more bouncers preventing people from going upstairs to see what was going on. So as far as I'm aware, it could have got even worse up there. I could still hear the music playing. It was utterly bizarre: this bouncer clearly was a Bad Egg, completely bored, wanted to clear the top floor, but instead of doing what they normally do (pull the plug on the music, talk to the DJ, put the lights up, whatever) he just picked on random punters and physically assaulted them. I didn't know what to do. I wanted to complain to the Head of Security but they all seemed in it together, there's no way any of them would have believed or wanted to believe my story, and if they had then you could be sure that the psycho bouncer would have had his eyes out for me next time, so wanted to mention it here to see if anyone had any info.
sounds like it was a bad experience. On a lighter note - Energy Vibration looked like it went down pretty well when he played it!
