When charity rower Will saw a plane ditching into the Irish Sea, he couldn't believe his eyes.
[Will, Rower, Gbrow Team]:
"I just saw a plane crash!"
He did not expect to find any survivors, but after a dramatic touchdown into the waters, pilot John O'Shaughnessy emerged, staying afloat on the wings of the light aircraft.
[Will, Rower, Gbrow Team]:
"You all right? I know, I saw you, I saw you. I am amazed you are still alive."
While waiting for the Coast Guard, Will and his fellow rower raced to his rescue, throwing him a lifeline.
[Will, Rower, Gbrow Team]:
"The helicopter is two minutes."
After 10 minutes from crashing, a helicopter arrived and winched him up from the sinking plane.
The relatively flat sea allowed the pilot to climb out of the cockpit with only minor scratches to his head.
He was treated for shock and hypothermia and discharged within a few hours.
[Will, Rower, Gbrow Team]:
"Amazing. I was almost in tears when I first saw it, because I thought he'd gone. I thought I had witnessed death, I'm not joking."
Though the drama pushed from sight their attempt to row around Britain in record time, the fundraising rowing crew was happy to be at the right place, at the right time.
its kind of funny, but then it is Ireland.

He's a very lucky man, if that plane had sank he would have had serious hypothermia within 5 mins, and die. Coast Guard helicopter took 10mins+

@zonzeven they called for a heli you retard..

The rowers didn't do anything to rescue him, they let him in the water instead of taking him into the rowingboat. Throwing a line from that distance was useless.
