@adnone1art America is not a continent, so the US couldn't be "in" something that doesn't exist. The thing is, 95% of people call the United States "America," so its fine.

So you basically refer to the United States "of" America as America, "of" meaning "in" America not actually stating that is that it is America, i don't know if you follow me brother.
