Birth of our son. @ 37 weeks gestation

Well here's the story,

The night before(Thursday)5/22 I thought I had lost my mucous plug, during the night I started having back cramping. When I woke up next morning to urinate and...There was blood and more mucous....I thought it was the famous "bloody show" As the morning progressed, the "cramping" started getting worse taking my lower belly, at 10am , started feeling those sensation every 15mins, then by 11am they were 7min, so decided to call my doctor, she asked me how painful they were, so I told her a bit stronger than the typical menstrual cramp.

She set up an emergency appt. for 3pm to get my GBS done and an internal exam. By 1pm I started having contractions every 5 mins by 130pm every 2mins. I didn't go to the hospital because I thought I was only around 2-3cm dilated. husband got from work at 230pm, We headed to the hospital(5min drive) and I had forgotten my purse at home, so he wanted to drop me off and told him NO, to go back to the house, so we came back to the house to get my purse lol. When we got to the hospital they were 1-2mins apart, they rushed me to the delivery room, , and when the nurse checked me she yells! Baby is crowning!!!! So I started saying ok...well I want an epidural, so she told me"Hun there is no time for an epidural" or IV Started pushing right away w/ no meds, I give props to those moms who want a natural birth because it is extremely painful!!!!! After 9 pushes and a 2nd degree tear, Adrian was born. Crazy! Got to the hospital at 2:45pm and had him at 3:31pm.

I'm so in love! Can't stop staring at him. The first 2 days of breastfeeding were really rough, but now he nurses like a champ! And the mom is getting the hang of it. He was 6lbs 9 ounches, 18inches long.

  • He is adorable Im 32 weeks now and so worried about having my baby soon. At 37 weeks they consider them full term did he have any issues?

  • @christynjohn09 At 37 weeks it is consider full term. But since it was at exactly 37 weeks they treated him like a preterm baby somewhat. He spent a little more time in the nursery to monitor his body temperature, also he had to pass a carseat test where he had monitors and spent an hour in the carseat(in the nursery) to see if he had any problems breathing at that position. But all these exams were done as a precaution, he was super healthy! Congrats hun! Pretty soon u'll be holding ur baby!

  • Congratulation on your baby I am 37 weeks and 2 days I'm still have less then 3 weeks to go but i can't way to see my baby I feel like the time is going slower them the whole 8 moths wait well congratulation again you have a beautiful angel. god bless you and your baby.

  • Aww thanks! Not too long, and you will be holding your little one. I honestly wasn't expecting on having my little guy at 37 weeks gestation, so it was a huge surprise but through out the pregnancy I had this gut feeling like I had to have everything done right on time. Good luck with the remaining of your pregnancy and most of all have a safe delivery and a speedy recovery! ps. Do you know what you are having..boy or girl..surprise?

  • how lucky u are to have such a beautiful baby

  • Thanks hun! I never lost hope that someday I was going to hold a little piece of heaven. Not because you have PCOS it means that it can't happen. Take care!
