This moving song by John McCutcheon recalls the "Christmas truce" during World War I where British and German soldiers put aside their weapons and shared the spirit of Christmas for a brief time (much to the dismay of their commanding officers).
The song is performed by Ken O'Malley, who, according to the University of St. Thomas, Houston is "widely regarded as the finest Irish folk singer/songwriter in the United States today". The performance took place in December, 2008. More about Ken O'Malley may be found at www.kenomalley.com; this song is recorded on his CD "Songs by a Winter's Hearth".
