I know there are mistakes in my playing... To critics: I come from the street, not the conservatory. I don't go for perfection, I go for honesty.
***
I record all most all of my videos myself in my home.
I use a light box for the lighting effect. The light box (same one I've been using for a couple years now) I made out of card board boxes The same couple of boxes that were originally used to ship my cds from the manufacturer. ...I like to reuse stuff.
I taped the two boxes together to form a larger chamber open on each end. i lined the inside with reflective bubble wrap foil insulation stuff from the hardware store.
I covered one open end of the box with a sheet of packaging material that was translucent...like a thin sheet of some kind of Styrofoam. anyway, it was quite diffuse and dispersed the light well.
on the other end of the box I sealed with just more cardboard and stuck in a light bulb--one of those compact florescent, low wattage ones. again the whole inside of the box is covered with reflective material (accept for the translucent front of course).
The idea behind a light-box is to spread the light over more area---the opposite of a spot light. Professional light boxes are ridiculously expensive, and they are not usually made out of recycled materials. so the DIY one suffices quite nicely.
I use low wattage bulb because I don't want it to be too bright. That way only the foreground is lit and the background is dark.
I captured the audio with the cameras built-in mics plus an external usb stereo condenser mic pair. I added I tiny bit of reverb using a software plugin.
(i'm not naming the brands of anything because I don't think brands matter that much. that goes for guitars also, btw. i know i might never get an endorsement deal for saying this kind of stuff, but i have to be honest. its YOU that matter. not the brands. and its your own creativity that matters when it comes to artistic endeavors such as music and film).
I used a decent quality HD camera mounted to my headstock with a guitar camera mount device I built out of wood and bolts.
I used my computer's built-in camera for the smaller image.
This song I started practicing about 10 years ago. It was written by Stanley Meyers for the Film "The Dear Hunter" --A movie about a working class group of friends who's lives were torn apart by war. The way I see it, the underlining theme of this movie, and i believe this song, is an appeal for peace.
thanks for watching

I'm a big fan of your stuff. But the beginning felt a little shakey tempo wise. It might have been a stylistic choice or something, I don't know, but it didn't quite flow as nice as your other songs, just at the beginning. The rest of it was awesome though. I'm still a huge fan.

I won't be popular... and I feel really bad about this... but I have to say what I feel... It wasn't good. Watch this piece by Per Olov Kindgren or Ana Vidovic and get what I mean... It's not like you, it's not like John Clarke. After this, I watched the "With Love" video ( watch?v=IZq4V8FMghI ) Is it really the same man? In this video, I felt like you really need to practice with a metronome.. a lot. But it's a nonsense, the John Clarke I know from the old videos doesn't need anything like this

@Szten I am not a classically trained guitarist...I never studied in a conservatory, and I am mostly self-taught. So I am a very different type of musician. I know what you mean though, I think there are times when I have played this song much better, but that was when a camera wasn't rolling.
