  • I loved 80s arcade games but they were so frustrating at times. You'd hit the fire button but nothing would happen. I was never sure if it was poor technology or whether it was dialled into the game so you'd lose.

  • You're right, they were designed to make lots of money, the successful games had that 'just one more go' factor. If you could make 1 coin last for hours that game wouldn't be in the arcade for long, it'd be replaced by a money maker. Thanks for watching :)

  • LOL Does that ever bring back memories! I believe that last time I played it was 27 years ago, and somehow the soundtrack is still with me :P

  • I'm crap at playing it, I didn't realise until now that there's a shield button!!! DOH!!

  • Eehhhm You also have a Shield to eat bullets and opponents that come at you though its use is limited and needs to recharge

  • thanks a lot for memory !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ashatan69 Its been a while since you posted but if anyone else is wondering if you can still play these you can - get MAME - and use a utube tutorial on how to put the files into the directory - easy peasy stuff- get the games(like phoenix) from rom world. :)

  • @tallstevo

they use to remove shield button to cheat us.

  • I was looking for that game all day not knowing title :) Finaly accidently found it,its 00:50am,thank you..

  • The music/sound fx of Phoenix were instantly recognizable as soon as you entered the arcade. I think probably the loudest game was Galaga though.

  • @fehquig thanks for posting that game. and your right that sound coming from the attacking birds is post traumatic. i was the best at this game at my local arcade.

  • I remember playing this back in the day 1982-83, those were the days when me & some friends skip classes in high school just to play Phoenix & Moon Cresta at the video Arcade..

  • This game is included in Taito Legends (Vol. 1) for PS2 and PSP, available in North America. You'll have to go to a retro game store to find it (or online).

  • you're allowed to use your force field you know. lol
