Hound Dog was recorded by Elvis Presley as a single in 1956. In this iVideosongs title, legendary drummer D.J. Fontana, who played on the original track, describes his experiences recording with Elvis and Scotty Moore, and performing on the Ed Sullivan Show. D.J. shows how to play Hound Dog, including the patterns and signature fills used in the different sections of the song, and explains his attention to dynamics in reference to the other instruments in the band. Fans of classic rock 'n' roll will enjoy learning this classic chart-topper from Elvis' original drummer. This is a sample of a 16 minute video available for purchase at iVideosongs.com.

  • DJ must be one of the few Italian guys from the south

  • @applegemz Wish I'd met these guys who all seem to be very sweet human beings - not at all like the devils they were portrayed as by a hostile media at the time. The astonishing thing now - to hear them reminisce - is that at the outset they were just jamming with really no idea of what they were doing. Everything just came together at the right time as if by magic - the greatest voice, the greatest guitar and the greatest record producer.

  • Very cool. In the actual video, are the real Elvis recordings used?

  • the best Drum ever

  • Elvis is King

    Check out

    rach aka elvis

  • Your uncle *knew* him.

  • my mom was a stand in for the lady in Roustabout, she sat next to Elvis in a ferris wheel.
