Use headphones or earphones. A tune from his third session on Chess (1952, monaural). Marantz CD player + Sansui integrated amps + home-made open baffle speakers + Zoom Q3.

  • The distortion, power, and long solo make this like a rock song - before there was even rock-n-roll.

  • @tmmmviii

Thanks for the comment. I remember somebody said that Little Walter was a Jimi Hendrix in the world of blues harmonica.

  • Thanks for posting this staggering performance.

  • @tmmmviii You're very welcome.

  • Hi legrandmaitre

Thanks, and I'm with you, even though I like some of Walter's disciples and I'm friends with them...

You'll find my ravings regarding Walter on many YouTube sites with reference to (from memory) Mellow Down Easy, Flying Saucer, One More Chance With You, Temperature (take 38) You're Sweet, Muddy's Just To Be With You and Jimmy Rogers's You're The One. There's probably more.

Thanks for the video: great pics (some new to me) - and a very enviable hi-fi!

    Best wishes

  • @guitarandharp

Yeah great mate - but all of 'em would have been blown off stage by Little Walter. For god's sake, after all these years give credit to the guys who created this music in the first place, not some overpaid twit in a suit who's copped the licks.

  • somethings strange when u menton annie raines but leave out james cotton??. -raines is good, like many many many others. But.....she cant compare to wilson, cotton, estrin etc etc. wheres norcia, portnoy, beauregard??? Youre off

  • Hi eldorado62

In answer to your query, there's quite a few great players out there: Rod Piazza is a superb player, and his own man but he can and will play this piece just right.... Then there's the Canadian band Bharath & The Rhythm Four, Dennis Gruenling, Mark Hummel, Rick Estrin, James Harman, West Weston, Magic Dick, Kim Wilson, Annie Raines, Lee Sankey, Curtis Salgado...

You'll find all of these people on YouTube. Enjoy!

Best wishes from a fellow - and lifelong - Little Walter fan.

  • I think i heard this on the opening of one of the Cowboy Bebop episodes O.o

  • @openbaffle3 He was Charlie Bird Parker too

  • Hot damn! SOULFUL as a baby's cry!

  • Incredible sound. It makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! Great haunting atmosphere. Who plays anything like this today??
