A delightful 13.4 miles through the High Weald of Kent and East Sussex. Steam trains, meadows, wooded valleys, lakes, fields and orchards all feature on this walk, which focuses on the High Weald Landscape Trail.
Reaching Tenterden by bus, the walker then follows the Trail to Smallhythe Place and then on to Wittersham, for an optional pub lunch (not taken here) .
Afterwards, it's on over The Rother Levels to the village of Peasmarsh before a gradual descent from the hills for a walk beside the River Tillingham into historic Rye.
A very pleasant walk but with potential to be very muddy after rain.
(Foxglove is the crimson flower seen here and the amphibians are Frogs, not Toads).
