This is an old Christian Hymn whose words (written by Charlotte Elliott in 1835) and melody (added by William B. Bradbury in 1849) are a model of simplicity. Even so, it has been said that this hymn has touched more hearts and influenced more lives than any other Christian song ever written.

Piano arrangement by Clarence Kohlmann, 1942.

Played by Tom Clemans, January 1, 2009
Thanks for watching.

JUST AS I AM

Verse 1

Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou biddest me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Verse 2

Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot;
To Thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Verse 3

Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Verse 4

Just as I am, Thy love unknown
Hath broken every barrier down;
Now, to be Thine, yes, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

  • Wonderful stuff, Tom :) I haven't heard this hymn for years, but I think it has to be one of the finest. And you played it quite flawlessly, of course... I've had a full day of classes today, following a sleepless night spent watching the Superbowl (it started at 11.30pm British Time), so this was exactly what I needed to help me relax and unwind :) Blessings!

  • @MHammondOrganist

    Thanks for your kind message. I always enjoy your organ performances.

  • Hi Tom, this is so nice to listen to. Thanks so much for sharing. And I see you have a high view count. That tells that you play so well that people (including me of course:))are enjoying your playing.

  • @biokemiker Thanks Johnny! You're too kind. :-D

    Blessings to you for the encouragement you share with so many people.

  • Stunning. I have this hymn memorized to the point I add my own lines into the chording, but this is amazing. Well done.

  • @americansmark Thank you Joshua. I'd love to hear your version some time. :-)

  • I'm 21 (like)...bless you my friend.

  • @tomclemans If I end up performing it for my university, I will have them video it and load it up. I'm mostly a trumpet player though. :)

  • Absolutely beautiful! My church choir sang this song (in Chinese) recently, too! Welcome to my channel and give thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ! Greetings from Hong Kong, China!

  • Thanks for watching, and for your kindness. :-)
