(Pt. 2) However, I'd much prefer to see a dog/cat take the needle versus spending months and months or even years in a kennel. A few dogs and MANY of the cats at a non-kill shelter I work(ed) at were residents with years. One cat named Peep has been there for over three years. I'm guessing the reason for this is that she has no teeth. Face the sad reality: Not many people are willing to take an old or terminally ill pet. Most people want puppies/kittens, which is why we have such a big problem.
No one likes the concept of euthanasia, but unfortunately there is not enough room for these animals. What are shelters supposed to do, release them back on the streets? Animals are domestic, and even though they have some senses to search for food and take care of themselves they are not wild and do not have all of these necessary instincts. Dogs and cats MUST be euthanized to make more room for MORE animals. What are they supposed to deny other pets of shelter? It's not easy to accept, I know.
Senario 1: An animal is suffering in mad, they have 1 week to live and that only with half lung capacity , IV lines and no ability to eat or drink due to being so weak. You call it barbaric to put them to sleep. Admitidly I wanted to burn the vets to the ground when my cat was put to sleep but then I realised the vet done her a favor and the only enemy is Menu Foods who gave her Pancreatic Cancer. So long as its done via injection and not any other means its ok
Thanks to the person In Japan . Here's What I say: Spay & Neuter! Rescue from groups & shelters. Dont pet store buy! And remember" For every one cat or dog U rescue from a shelter U didn't save One but 2. "The One U rescued to take home & the ONE U made room for next ,to come into that shelter" Also, here's another good quote: " For the ONE cat or dog you adopt/ rescue from a shelter , U may not have changed the world; BUT for that One dog or cat it's world has changed FOREVER"
