I don't think this has been uploaded previously. I added the audio from the single as the sound wasn't that great.

  • pernicketty,

This brings back some sweet memories. Looks like this is a clip from American Bandstand or maybe Where the Action Is, with Dick Clark as the MC on the original audio recording. Am I correct? Also, it looks like this was taped in the Dallas area, where these handsome young men started out. Thanks so much for uploading this!

  • Thanks for your comment B. In answer to your questions, Where The Action Is was indeed the show and Huntsville, Alabama was the location.

  • @MACJO63 I remember reading an article in GOLDMINE that mentioned the 5 Americans' releases on Hanna Barbera. Their label Abnak leased their singles to Hanna Barbera Records for national distribution. Around early 1967, it was decided that Abnak would distribute their records nationally. So Hanna Barbera Records deleted the 5 Americans' records. It was too little too late as "Western Union" was by that time, already a hit.

  • no idea why they dont play these sorta hits anymore, i miss them!

  • Really great vintage footage, thanks for this!

  • I have no idea what the title to this song means--but hey it's really good!

That Olds looks like a 66 Cutlass to me

  • Wasn't there an issue with the record label on this song? This song broke out of the Dallas region, but struggled to make it to the national charts, and I recall it had something to do with the label....it's such a pretty song, love the guitar...

  • This one reached #52 nationally over a nine week run in April-May 1966. always thought it was interesting how the Abnak label design was clearly a parody (or rip-off!) of the Altantic label design.

  • I double checked in Collectible Automoble, Feb. 2011 issue, which features 1965-1966 Olds and I believe neither of use are correct. The image compares well to the full-sized Holiday Coupe series making it eitther a Delta 88 or Dynamic 88.

  • Mike Love, the leader of the Beach Boys. A very big kahuna. Gidget.

  • @etbella3 No comments from the Peanut Gallery, please. I'm just sayin.......

  • None of the Beatles had blond hair.
