World focus is often on the Middle East and specifically Israel-Palestine but the Hutu-Tutsi conflicts, such as the Burundi Civil War dwarf the scale of casualties there. This really is a forgotten tragedy.

Truth is that Western Media is only to make a profit... and they don't care about what is going on if they think they can't sell it. 99% of the average folk don't even know if Burundi is in Africa... they have never even heard about it... that's why it doesn't really get covered.
There was a study that the average person knows 6-10 times the number of commercial brands to that of countries in the world... not to mention knowing what is going on in them. Sad but true... Big Brother melts brains.

NOW Did you know?!! There are 2000 Burundian UN Peacekeepers in Mogadisho, Somalia?....That is a place US Marines were trounced in the early 1990s, an incident known as BLACK HAWK DOWN!
That we send our troops abroad means that things have greatly improved....
Barack Obama should take note of this, after all he is partly originated from East Africa.....
Never underestimate what you dont know!

hehe I know what you people are talking about! Only people who had been there can really understand this

A Friend of mine was there during the time this film was made. If it wasn´t for her I wouldn´t even know about the civil war there, because german media was not covering the story.
To many westerners Africa is simply a terra inkognita and the only things you get word of are wars (only if western interests or ressources are endangered) and famine.
Sad but true.
You have to dig for info on your own.
I´m ashamed of "our" politics there

This little country seems to be one of the most bloodstained in Africa; Genocide and War are the definition of its recent history.

nzog: Not at all. I was responding to someone specifically promoting "OBAMA", by discussing Obama's foreign relations policies...which are essentially the same as McCains, and Clintons.
I suggest you direct your comment instead to "PresidentOfTheBlacks".
But, as it is, Ron Paul's policy of non-interventionism would positively affect EVERY country around the world, including Burundi. So that's worth mentioning on any foreign video. (And I bet money Ron Paul even knows where Burundi is!)
