In Sumerian mythology, Kur was primarily a mountain or mountains, and usually referred to the Zagros mountains to the east of Sumer. It is possible that this name for the area coincides with the still present modern day Kurds who inhabit much of the Zagros mountains. The cuneiform for "kur" was written ideographically with the cuneiform sign 𒆳, a pictograph of a mountain. It can also mean "foreign land". Although the word for earth was Ki, Kur came to also mean land, and Sumer itself,

Just because two things have similarities does not make them mythology. Martin Luther King and Gandhi both have similarities to Jesus, but that does not mean that Martin Luther King and Gandhi were myths created resembling Jesus. Besides, any middle schooler can find similarities and differences between any two things that you give them. It is an easy exercise. Besides, a sphinx and a cherub are hardly the same thing.
EDEN IN IN LEBANON.READ EZEKIEL.LOL.

@gibsongold1970 You're right! He does locate Eden in the Lebanon (Ez 31.16). But he was wrong. His prophecies were wrong too. Professors Sayce, Delitzsch & Langdon over 100 yrs ago correctly noted that the Edenic motifs are originally associated with Lower Mesopotamia and Sumer. Ea's warning to Adapa "don't eat, you will die" in Eridu, next to Ur where Abraham lived, was recast as Yahweh warning Adam.
