that just says it all, im going to have to find an other foto editor cause gimp really sucks at cutting images no offence... any better photo editor a part from photoshop?

you did this the coplicated way you could have just used the "free select tool" and did it once an it would have been done wayyy faster....

click on the layer you want it to be smaller.. then go to Layers>Layer size ( or some thing like that ) then make the numbers lower ..(ex: with400 length200 make that smaller for the layer to be smaller or other way arround to make bigger..
if you want to pic to be bigger or smaller.. do the same but click on images>canves size
