I love walking on the quay, but the pier has sad memories for me too, of leaving Ireland as a kid at the end of our holiday and my mam weeping buckets as she waved goodbye to her sisters. But one thing you can't beat and one of the best sights in the world for me is when you're on the ferry and Ireland appears on the horizon, and before you know it you can see Dun Laoghaire in all it's glory. I'm off to Hicks for me pudding and sausage!! :)

@canley1 Well you just pulled at my heart strings. I used to go on holidays as a kid to Dun Laoghaire when I was from 7-11 years old. The last visit was about 60 years ago!!! I remember swimming near a place called the "40 Foot Pole" I remember it being a beautiful place. My Stepfather was from there. His name was Michael Ward.
