Emily is one of the fastest learning students I have ever had. She was given a banjo last year by another student here at The Bluegrass Shack. It has been one year this week that she started playing banjo. Emily is only 13 years old.

  • Well, I also am a teacher, and I can tell you, students like that are rare. That is a great job, I bet you are very proud! Great teacher and great student, and the best banjo tune ever, it is!

  • @jollyjock Thank you! And yes, I'm very proud of her.

  • This deserves a better rating. This tune has an extra beat in the B part that a lot of players miss.

  • I agree! But then I'm prejudiced!!! I think Emily is great. Don't know many people that can play as well as Emily in only a year's time...and you should hear her now!

  • Sounds really good, keep it up. By the way, what type of banjo are you playing?

  • Emily is playing a 1970's Iida banjo.

  • There are many different versions of CMB on you tube, but this is irresistable, I keep coming back to Emily . Do you give lessons ?

  • Emily - you're the best . Great timing ; you are my new idol !

  • @blueiis2 I know at least of one person that can play amazing after only 2 years and he only but 8, maybe 9 now. He and 2 of his brothers have a band and it is pretty impressive for their age!

He is definitely 8 in this vid -----> /watch?v=tqM8fSrbBQs
